Trav checks in on Army Corps advice

TravstandingsmHmmph! At least that guy from the Army Corps said we are intelligent, even if they want us to go back to eating uncooked minnows and berries, and not potato chips and powdered donuts. It’s not safe to eat raw crawdads anymore…I read that in the newspaper by the picnic table, too. Lock stuff up if you must, folks, but don’t tempt or tease us. It’s not nice. -Trav

“Chances are you will encounter raccoons or other animals while camping. Just remember, raccoons are cute with their black masks, ringed tails and hand-like front paws, but they are also intelligent enough to open jugs, raid refrigerators and open picnic baskets. To keep these from happening remember to store food properly out of the little critters’ reach. Even though they may have lost their fear of man in the park environment, they can become aggressive if they feel threatened or are protecting food or their young.” — James Beard, Clearwater Corps news release.
