Conservation Commission meets

The Missouri Conservation Commission met April 25 and 26 at Conservation Department Headquarters in Jefferson City. 
 
The Commission received presentations from:

• Education Programs Supervisor Kevin Lohraff regarding the Discover Nature Schools Program.
• Outreach and Education Division Chief Mike Huffman regarding the Range and Outdoor Education Center Program.
• Elk Program Coordinator Ron Dent regarding Missouri’s elk-restoration program.

Jo is quite frankly confused about the new Missouri Department of Conservation policy on feral hogs.
An MDC Facebook post on February 4 has elicited a fair amount of comment, both pro and con.

MDC calls weird weather factor in low first weekend deer kill

JEFFERSON CITY–Hunters checked 69,614 deer during the opening weekend of Missouri’s November firearms deer season. The Missouri Department of Conservation says weather was the most significant factor affecting the number of deer checked.
