Deer Season has almost come and gone and I have experienced parts of the hunting experience. I went hunting with my guide, learned what it was like to sit in the woods and wait for that deer, and then I had the great opportunity to experience what happens after the kill compliments of my [...]

Yes, I had success in the hunting woods; Gibson the Guide DID NOT kill me. Folks Gibson has to be the most patient man out there, because if I were in his shoes I would have left me standing. I am one sad situation, but I swear it is only my lack of [...]

I was a little worried as the November deadline drew near. It didn’t seem to me that our writers had submitted the usual number of good deer hunting stories and I hadn’t contacted Al Agnew about a cover illustration.
One night I woke up in a sweat — how could we have a deer issue without [...]

I would like to comment on the specific change of moving the antlerless portion around to replace the portion of the muzzle loading season. I don’t understand completely what the switch of these two portions of the deer season accomplish?
For years now the MDC has tried to gear the season toward the [...]

Here’s a summary of stories in the June 2010 Traveler. It’s our annual Float Trip Issue. A bonus is coverage of the grand reopening of Johnson Shut-Ins State Park and the surrounding Arcadia Valley/Black River area.

Hunters checked 86,202 deer during the first weekend of the November Portion of Firearms Deer Season, Nov. 14 through 24. That is 12 percent fewer than last year.
