New contact station opens at Pulltite Sept. 3
Ozark National Scenic Rivers invites the public to attend the grand opening ceremony of the new Visitor Contact Station at the Pulltite Campground on Friday, September 3 at 6:00 p.m. Park Superintendent, Reed Detring, will cut the ribbon officially opening the facility. The Current River Bluegrass Band will provide musical entertainment. Bring your requests, a blanket, or lawn chair.
“We hope the new facility will enhance the park experience both for campers and other visitors to Pulltite. This new building will provide much needed improvements for restroom facilities, as well as orientation to other areas of the park,” said Superintendent Reed Detring.
The new facility houses restrooms, showers, ranger offices, and Visitor Contact Station where the public can obtain park information, view displays, and borrow a fishing rod or binoculars. In the children’s area, youth can check out a nature book from the library, discover the animal puppets, or create a craft project.
The Current River Bluegrass Band, from nearby Timber, features band leader Roy Light on the dobro, Donald Tucker on bass, Bill Bryant on mandolin, David Light on flat top guitar, and Roger Smith on banjo. The band’s beautiful and lively renditions have thrilled audiences throughout the area for many years.
