I’m not sure how the MSHAA and school sanctioned fishing would tie in to the academic side of high school, or if much thought has been given to this. A great majority of high school students take biology, and everyone has to take math. It strikes me that just as traditional ball sports have been closely acquainted with the phys. ed. program at a school, competitive(or even non-competitive) fishing would be more closely related to biology, ecology, statistical math, geometry, chemistry, physics and even home economics (cooking) than it would be to phys. ed. It might be a wonderfully fun way to encourage real world problems in math and science.
