MDC releases photos of trapped mountain lion
The Missouri Department of Conservation has released photos of the Centerville mountain lion, taken by communication specialist Candice Davis while department officials were waiting for the cat to recover from the effects of sedation after its release. Enjoy!
Wildlife biologists look at the paws of mountain lions and other big cats to determine if the animal has spent lots of time on concrete, (wear on pads) and check the claws to see if they have been declawed or otherwise trimmed, indicating a captive animal. This specimen had no such indication.
