Conservation Commission sets fall bird and game seasons
The Conservation Commission met in closed session May 24 at the Camp Geiger-Herzog Lodge, St. Joseph, and in open session May 25 at the Remington Nature Center, St. Joseph. Commissioners present were:

REGULATIONS
The Commission approved the following seasons and regulations:
Early Migratory Bird Seasons
· Sora and Virginia rails: Sept. 1 through Nov. 9 (70 days); limits – 25* daily and 25* in possession. (*Combined total for both species with daily bag equal to possession limit).
· Wilson’s (common) snipe: Sept. 1 through Dec. 16 (107 days); limits – 8 daily and 16 in possession.
· American woodcock: Oct. 15 through Nov. 28 (45 days); limits – 3 daily and 6 in possession.
· Mourning doves, Eurasian collared doves, and white-winged doves: Sept. 1 through Nov. 9 (70 days); limits – 15* daily and 30* in possession. (*Combined total for all three species).
· Blue-winged teal (BWT), green-winged teal, and cinnamon teal:
(The population status of the blue-winged teal – the primary species harvested in Missouri’s September teal season – will not be known until August.)
Ø If the BWT breeding population index is below 3.3 million, the season will be closed.
Ø If the BWT breeding population index is at least 3.3 million but less than 4.7 million, the season will be Sept. 8 through 16 (nine days); limits 4 daily and 8 in possession.
Ø If the BWT breeding population index is 4.7 million or greater, the season will be Sept. 8 through 23 (16 days); limits 4 daily and 8 in possession

Archery Deer Season: Sept. 15 through Nov. 9 and Nov. 21 through Jan. 15, 2013, statewide; limit two deer of either sex, except that only one antlered deer may be taken before the November portion of the firearms season. Additional deer may be taken on Archery Antlerless Deer Permits in select counties.
Archery Turkey Season: Sept. 15 through Nov. 9 and Nov. 21 through Jan. 15, statewide; limit two turkeys of either sex.
Firearms Deer Season
Urban Zones Portion: Oct. 5 through 8 in select zones; limit one antlerless deer on an Any-Deer Permit. Additional antlerless deer may be taken on Firearms Antlerless Deer Permits.
Youth Portion – Early: Nov. 3 and 4 statewide; limit one deer of either sex on an Any-Deer Permit or in select counties one antlerless deer on a Firearms Antlerless Deer Permit.
Youth Portion – Late: Dec. 29 and 30, statewide; limit one deer of either sex on an Any-Deer Permit. Additional antlerless deer may be taken in select counties on Firearms Antlerless Deer Permits.
November Portion: Nov. 10 through 20 statewide; limit one deer of either sex on an Any-Deer Permit. Additional antlerless deer may be taken in select counties on Firearms Antlerless Deer Permits.
Antlerless Portion: Nov. 21 through Dec. 2 in select counties; limit one antlerless deer on an Any-Deer Permit. Additional antlerless deer may be taken on Firearms Antlerless Deer Permits.
Alternative Methods Portion: Dec. 15 through 25 statewide, limit one deer of either sex on an Any-Deer Permit. Additional antlerless deer may be taken in select counties on Firearms Antlerless Deer Permits.
