Canoe, kayak clinic at Round Spring
Ozark National Scenic Riverways will host a “Canoe and Kayak Clinic” event at Round Spring on Thursday, August 5 and Friday, August 6, 2010. There will be a morning session beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 11:30 a.m. each day. The afternoon sessions start at 12:30 p.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. Kayaks and canoes will be provided.
The purpose of the clinic is to improve the safety, skill, and enjoyment of visitors using canoes and kayaks on the Riverways. Topics covered include canoe and kayak equipment; rescue techniques; basic paddle strokes and maneuvers; and river safety. Clinic instructors are certified by the American Canoe Association.
Sessions are limited to 12 participants and advanced reservations are required. Reservations can be made in person or by calling the Round Spring Visitor Center at 573-858-3297 ext. 25 and asking for Rangers Moria Painter or Dave Tobey. The Round Spring Visitor Center is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily.
Round Spring is located 16miles north of Eminence, Missouri, on State Highway 19. The event is free, and all are welcome.
