4000 signature Riverways GMP petition given to Blunt, McCaskill
According to this report in the Springfield News-Leader, 4000 signatures calling for tougher restrictions in the yet to be released Ozark National Scenic Riverways General Management plan were given to the offices of Senators Roy Blunt and Claire McCaskill Nov. 30. 
The petition drive is sponsored by environmental organizations including the Eastern Missouri Group- Sierra Club, Friends of Ozark Riverways, LAD Foundation, Ozarks Greenway and Greater Ozarks Audubon.
According to the News-Leader story, NPS spokeswoman Faye Walmsley said four alternatives of the GMP are being prepared for release early next year.
The announcement was made in Springfield, under the auspices of Ozarks Greenway. A similar announcement is expected in St. Louis later this month.
